230v vs 240v?

240v was the standard in the UK, while 220v was used in much of mainland Europe.

Today, the European Union harmonized on a standard of 230v, with tolerances (+10% to -6%) that cover both original voltages. Therefore, an appliance designed for 220-240v will function safely on a supply nominally rated at 230v, as the actual voltage fluctuates anyway and falls within this accepted range.
