Terms of service

The Van Build supplies parts and equipment for self-build campervans, motorhomes, caravans and similar applications.

We are a supply-only business and do not provide installation, conversion, fitting or repair services.

1. Orders

When you place an order through our website, you are making an offer to purchase the goods shown in your order.

We will confirm your order by email once it has been accepted. If we are unable to supply an item, we will contact you and, where appropriate, refund any payment made for that item.

You are responsible for checking that the products you order are suitable for your intended application, including dimensions, specifications, electrical requirements and compatibility. Product information provided on our website should be checked before ordering.

If you are unsure whether a product is suitable, please contact us through our Support page before placing your order.

Nothing in these Terms limits your statutory rights where goods are faulty, incorrectly supplied, not as described or otherwise do not meet the requirements of UK consumer law.

2. Product Information

We make reasonable efforts to ensure that product descriptions, specifications and images on our website are accurate.

Manufacturers may occasionally change product specifications, packaging or appearance. Where a change means that goods supplied are materially different from those ordered, your statutory rights are not affected.

Measurements and specifications should be checked before ordering where they are important to your application.

Unless specifically stated, our products are supplied as components or equipment only. Installation, fitting, conversion and repair are not included.

3. Prices and Payment

All prices shown on our website include VAT where applicable.

Delivery charges are shown separately and are calculated according to the delivery service and goods ordered.

The price payable is the price displayed at checkout when your order is placed.

We reserve the right to correct genuine pricing or listing errors. If an error is identified before your order has been accepted, we will contact you before proceeding with the order.

Payment is taken using the payment method selected at checkout.

Where payment options such as Klarna are offered, the relevant payment provider's terms also apply.

4. Delivery

Delivery charges and available delivery services are shown at checkout.

Estimated delivery times are shown on individual product pages and may vary depending on the product, stock availability and delivery location.

We will make reasonable efforts to deliver within the estimated delivery period. Where no other period has been agreed, goods will normally be delivered within 30 days.

If an item becomes unavailable or there is a significant delivery problem, we will contact you and, where appropriate, arrange a refund.

Risk in the goods passes to you when the goods are delivered to you or to a person nominated by you to receive them.

For pallet deliveries, delivery is normally kerbside. Drivers are not generally able to move pallets into buildings, over steps or other obstacles, unpack goods or remove pallets.

We recommend waiting until your goods have been received and checked before arranging installation or other work.

Our full delivery information is set out in our Shipping Policy.

5. Cancellation and Returns

If you are a consumer purchasing online, you normally have the right to cancel your order within 14 days of receiving the goods without giving a reason.

If you cancel, you must notify us within the 14-day cancellation period. You then have a further 14 days to return the goods.

You are responsible for the cost of returning goods when cancelling because you have changed your mind, unless otherwise agreed.

Your refund will include the cost of the goods and the standard delivery charge paid on the original order. Any additional cost for an upgraded delivery service is not refundable.

Goods may be handled as reasonably necessary to establish their nature, characteristics and functioning. Where goods have been handled beyond what would reasonably be permitted in a shop, a deduction may be made from the refund to reflect any resulting reduction in value.

Certain goods may be exempt from the statutory cancellation right, including:

  • Goods made to your specific requirements or personalised for you, such as made-to-measure cables or custom-made table tops
  • Sealed goods which are not suitable for return for health or hygiene reasons once the seal has been broken

These exclusions do not affect your statutory rights where goods are faulty, damaged, incorrectly supplied or not as described.

Further information is provided in our Returns & Warranty Policy.

6. Faulty, Damaged or Incorrect Goods

If goods are faulty, damaged, incorrectly supplied or not as described, please contact us through our Support page as soon as reasonably possible.

Your statutory consumer rights apply. Depending on the circumstances, you may be entitled to a repair, replacement, refund or other appropriate remedy.

Where a return is required because goods are faulty, damaged, incorrectly supplied or not as described, we will arrange or reimburse the appropriate return costs.

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes any rights or remedies that cannot legally be limited or excluded.

7. Manufacturer Warranties

Some products are covered by a manufacturer's warranty.

A manufacturer's warranty is additional to your statutory rights against The Van Build and does not replace those rights.

Where appropriate, warranty claims may need to be handled directly with the manufacturer or an authorised service centre. We will provide reasonable assistance with this where appropriate.

The Van Build is a parts supplier and does not provide installation, conversion or repair services. We may be able to provide basic product information for products purchased from us, but we cannot provide detailed installation, fault-finding or repair support.

8. Business and Trade Customers

If you purchase goods wholly or mainly for use in connection with your business, you may not be considered a consumer under UK law.

The consumer-specific cancellation and other consumer protections in these Terms do not apply to business customers where the law does not require them to do so.

For business customers, these Terms form the basis of the contract between you and us. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.

9. Liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for:

  • Death or personal injury caused by negligence
  • Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation
  • Breach of rights that cannot legally be excluded or limited
  • Any other liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited

For consumers, nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights.

For business customers, to the extent permitted by law, we will not be responsible for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of business, loss of revenue or loss of goodwill.

10. Events Outside Our Reasonable Control

We will not be responsible for delays or failures caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control, such as serious disruption to transport networks, natural disasters, industrial disputes, acts of government or widespread technical failures.

Where such an event affects your order, we will keep you informed where reasonably possible.

If an order cannot be fulfilled as a result of such circumstances, we will arrange an appropriate refund where required.

11. General

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply.

If we do not immediately enforce a provision of these Terms, this does not mean that we have waived our right to enforce it later.

These Terms, together with the information provided on our website and at checkout, form the basis of the contract between you and The Van Build.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

If you are a consumer, nothing in these Terms affects any mandatory rights you may have under the laws applicable to you or your right to bring proceedings in accordance with applicable law.
