What is the best way of heating a Transporter sized campervan?
The simplest way of heating a campervan is using a campsites electrical hook up (EHU) and a small plug in heater.
If you would like heat but an EHU is not available (wild camping for instance) then a diesel heater is the best approach.
A diesel heater is usually installed to draw fuel directly from your vans existing fuel tank, the pickup feed pipe is doesn't reach the bottom of the tank, this prevents the diesel heater from using all of your fuel.
There are many diesel heaters on the market and obviously they range in price and quality. At the cheaper end of the scale there are knock-off heaters, we strongly advise against using these.
Good brands to go for are Truma, Autoterm, Webasto, Eberspacher and Propex.
Our personal favourite diesel heater for campervans is the Transporter Autoterm 2kw with a PU-05 controller. It offers simple, quiet and fuel efficient heating. This has proven to be an extremely reliable heater and is backed by a 3 year warranty.

Hot water is another possibility, although given the limited space inside a Transporter it is rarely considered essential. Simply using the gas or electric hob is the easiest method.
A system Truma Combi boiler is the go to for a hot water and an air blown heater in one unit, but given the size, they are not practical in small campervans.
